Senior Management Team

Ms. Johanna –  Head of Academics

Hello, my name is Johanna Oviasu Khan. I recently joined Awfaz Global School in January 2016. I am from London, United Kingdom and have been teaching over fifteen years after completing my teaching degree at Goldsmiths College University of London with a specialism in Early Childhood Education. I worked in UK for six years before moving to Cairo, Egypt. There I worked as Curriculum Coordinator and Head of Foundation Stage for four years. I have worked at an International School in Qatar for five years before joining this team. I am looking forward to adding to the development of Key Stage One and contributing to the positive progression of the whole school.

Mr. Hasim Khan Head of Secondary

Hello, my name is Hasim Khan and I am the Head of Secondary at Awfaz Global School. I have over seven years of leadership and teaching experience in the United Kingdom where I have been an Assistant Headteacher, Achievement Leader and Raising Standards Leader. I am very excited to bring my experiences to the children of Awfaz School and embark on a journey that will in two years’ time see the school grow all the way to Year 12. We follow the British Curriculum and we currently have our first cohort of IGCSE students in Year 10. We hold traditional values within the secondary school and demand high expectations of our pupils, teaching staff and support staff. We are a school where ‘Education Comes First’, and this philosophy is displayed throughout the whole of our secondary school.  We endeavor to make the school environment a safe and secure one that will allow our students the opportunity to develop and learn to the best of their abilities. Our aim is to prepare students for life and the international world of work.
Mr. Andrew –  KS 2 Literacy
Hello, my name is Andrew Misiura. I have been a year 4 teacher at Awfaz Global School since 2014. I am from Canada and received both Bachelor of Arts and my Bachelor of Education degrees from Brock University. After having taught in Canada, I desired to see more of the world and live in a different culture, so I accepted a position in Korea, working for the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education. Over the course of four years, I worked in public Middle and High Schools, served as an Education Consultant for the ministry, and helped develop a teaching guide book to be used by all teachers in the province. My passion for teaching and cultural exploration brought me to Qatar, where I have applied my ESL experience to benefit students here. This year, I have taken on the role of Head of Primary Literacy, through which I hope to raise the English standards at our school by improving and bringing consistency to the English program.
Ms Hana- Head of English, Humanities and Drama
My name is Hana Ahmed and I am the Head of English, Humanities and Drama. I am from London, UK, and completed a BA (Hons) in English Literature. I then went on to obtain a PGCE and Masters in English Education at Institute of Education, UCL. This is my first year at Awfaz Global School and am looking forward to working with my team to ensure we are steering students towards success. I am to provide a consistent approach to teaching that promotes the inclusivity of Awfaz Global School.

Ms Tasneem –  Head of Secondary Maths

With immense pleasure I would like to introduce myself, I am Tasneem Mohammed Ismail. I work as the head of Maths for Key Stage 3 students. I have my Masters in Maths and this is my 18th year of teaching and third year in Awfaz Global School. The questions that frame my philosophy of teaching are, where do my students come from, what do they need to know to keep growing and how can I best support them in getting there? I am excited to work hard to ensure that all my students achieve their best. At Awfaz Global School, we believe in overall development of our dear students and as a team, we ensure each student learns in his or her own unique way.

Ms. Fatima Ibrahim – Head of Secondary Science

As I have only recently joined Awfaz Global school, it gives me great pleasure to introduce myself.  My Name is Ms. Fatima Ibrahim and I am from London, United Kingdom.  This will be my twelfth year of teaching after completing my teaching degree at the Institute of Education, University of London with a specialism in Science.  I have worked in the UK as a KS4 coordinator and head of subject (Chemisty).  I am very much committed to working as part of the team here at Awfaz Global school to see that our students are enthused about Science and about learning.  I look forward to working cooperatively with you to achieve the expected progress for all our students.


Lutfi Mahmoud Fakhra – Head of Arabic, Islamic studies & Qatar History

Imposing teachers’ performance and providing suitable support in implementation.Observing teachers in class to design suitable remedial work, planning and preparation. Working in tandem with SEC standards of Arabic and Islamic studies as well as Qatar History. Observing teachers’ and teacher assistant performance inside / outside the classroom. Continuous development of professional growth regarding Arabic/Islamic studies and Qatar history.

Ms. Rasha – Arabic Teacher for non-Arabic speakers

My name is Rasha Youself Al Najjar and I have been a member of the Awfaz team since 2013. I worked as an English teacher for a total of 14 years in independent and private schools. Now, I am the Arabic teacher for the non-Arabic speaking students. I focus on speaking skills, reading comprehension and forming of sounds and simple words. Ultimately, I support the students’ development of the Arabic language with differentiated curricula for students in years 1 to 8.

Ms. Rowa – Student Counselor -Girls

RowaHello, my name is Rowa Elgayli and I’m the student counselor at Awfaz Global school. I earned my Honours Bachelor of Psychology in Ahfad University and I’m currently finishing up my Masters degree in Child Development Psychology. I started my career in Abu Dhabi as a student counselor at Emirates College before moving to Qatar. I’m looking forward to what this year has to bring and working with the enthusiastic team of educators here at Awfaz Global School.



Mr. Abdulhalim Abdullah – Student Counselor – Boys

img_6661Hello, My name is Abdulhalim Abdullah, the Boys counsellor from Egypt. I joined with AGS in August2016. I have over 10 years of experience in teaching. I have been working in Qatari schools from 2008. I am looking forward to adding to the development and positive progression of the whole school.




Lydia Bullmer – SENCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

As-Salaam Alaikum, my name is Ms Lydia Bulmer and I am in charge of supporting students who for whatever reason need extra support within their studies. This is my second year at Awfaz and I am loving my time here supporting the Awfaz family. I have been teaching for over ten years and have a Master’s Degree from the University of Queensland, Australia. I am very passionate about supporting students with Learning Disabilities especially since I spent my own education struggling as a second language learner in France with an unrecognised disability.  It was at University, where I discovered that I had dyslexia. I am proud that Awfaz and Qatar want to do the best to support all students regardless of their needs and hope to continue to support students achieve their full potential.
